Minister of Transport confirms the readiness of the port of Hodeidah to receive all types of ships

 

Minister of Transport, Abd al-Wahab Yahya al-Durra, affirmed the readiness of the port of Hodeidah to receive all types of container ships, including the port of Salif, as well as the port of Ras Issa, which completed the unloading of the oil derivatives ship.

 

Minister Al-Durra indicated, in a meeting held at the Red Sea Ports Corporation in Hodeidah , that included the governor, Mohammed Ayash Qahim, the first deputy governor of the governorate, Ahmed Al-Bishri, and the CEO of the Corporation, Mohammed Ishaq, to ​​the importance of restoring the activity and the navigational movement of the port.

 

He praised the efforts of the Red Sea Ports Corporation to receive ships, facilitate procedures, and provide exemptions for berth rental fees for 21 days, and the Economic Committee’s provision of an exemption of 49 percent of the customs of goods and commodities imported to the port of Hodeidah.

 

And he praised the role of the local authority in Al-Hodeidah Governorate in preparing roads for trucks to and from Al-Hodeidah by opening the ninety road.. He stressed that the ministry seeks to provide projects in the port of Al-Hodeidah in cooperation with the Supreme Economic Committee and the relevant authorities to ensure the development of the performance of the navigational movement in the port, which was severely damaged as a result. Bombing his equipment and machinery.

 

Al-Durra stated that the efforts will include, during the coming period, the rehabilitation of Hodeidah Airport in order to enable it to operate and restore its activity to its normal state, given the aggression and destruction it was subjected to by the coalition of aggression and mercenaries because of the airport’s importance in navigational activity.

 

He highly valued the role of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council in the victory of the rights of the Yemeni people over the years of aggression and siege, stressing that opening ports and airports and lifting the siege is a basic requirement to alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis.

 

Al-Durra considered the port of Hodeidah, the main port for more than 70 percent of Yemenis, and restoring its activity and opening it to all commercial ships is an urgent necessity, and an important step after eight years of unfair restrictions and systematic blockade.

 

While the Governor of Hodeidah stressed keenness to make more efforts in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport in enhancing readiness to receive container ships, arranging the preparation of work in the Red Sea ports, and addressing challenges and difficulties in order to enhance navigational activity and the movement of ships entering the port.

 

For his part, the First Undersecretary of Hodeidah Governorate, Al-Bishri, discussed the mechanisms and procedures related to the services of the port of Hodeidah, the requirements for improving services, implementing the necessary treatments to improve the entrances to the Red Sea ports, and preparing services as intended.
