Minister of Transport: Humanitarian armistice extension is not feasible without expansion of its items

Minister of Transport, Abdul Wahab Yahya Al-Durra, said that extending a new period of the humanitarian truce without implementing what was included in the previous two periods and expanding its provisions to include important and vital issues, is not feasible for the Yemeni people in general  the sick and travelers in particular.

Al-Durra, in his speech during an expanded meeting held  for the leaders and employees of the ministry on the first day of the official working day after the Eid al-Adha holiday, called for a review of the terms of the truce and its expansion to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, pay salaries and exchange the release of prisoners.

“We are nearing the completion of the second period of the humanitarian truce sponsored by the United Nations, which was not fully implemented and did not relieve the suffering of the citizens, but it achieved what the coalition aspires to by providing a secure situation for the export of oil,” he said.

Al-Durra stressed that the coalition of aggression continues to repudiate and delay the implementation of what was stated in the humanitarian truce, especially in the conduct of commercial flights to Cairo.

“The announcement of the Cairo-Sana’a flights, which we heard the leaders of America, Saudi Arabia and Egypt thanking in their statements about the conduct of civil commercial flights between Sana’a and Cairo on more than one occasion, is nothing but a shading of public opinion and the international community, as only one flight has flown for more than three years.”  Months”.

He reiterated the readiness of Sana’a Airport and its commitment to the security and safety requirements internationally approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Minister of Transport called for the need to open airports, ports, roads and land ports without restriction or condition, as they are a human right guaranteed by all international regulations, charters and agreements.

He also called for opening the main roads from Aden, Marib, Al Dhale’e, Taiz, Al Bayda, Hadramout and Al Jawf, and reducing transportation costs for goods and commodities to alleviate the suffering of the citizens.

Minister Al-Durra called on the United Nations to abide by the Stockholm Agreement regarding the port of Hodeida to rehabilitate what was destroyed by the aggression, especially with regard to the installation of new bridge cranes (cranes) instead of those bombed by the aggression’s aircraft, and to allow cargo container ships to enter the port because of their economic importance in the port’s work activities  Hodeidah and marine navigation in general.

He praised the level of job discipline on the first day of official working hours, urging everyone to make more efforts and cooperation in order to achieve development and keep pace in various different fields of transport.

The meeting was attended by Undersecretaries of the Air Transport Sector Abdullah Al-Ansi, Financial Affairs Adel Al-Madani, Maritime and Ports Affairs Khaled Al-Nimr, and the Ministry’s directors and employees.
