Statement from the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated authorities and institutions regarding the direct and indirect damages and losses on various transportation sectors from March 2015 to March 2024:

Nine years have passed since the beginning of the aggression of the Saudi-American coalition against our country, Yemen. It was met with legendary steadfastness from all the Yemeni people, and the victory of God, “Glory be to Him,” and His support, care, and aid to the Yemeni people became clear to everyone in all these nine years that passed.

As we enter the tenth year of steadfastness, in light of the passage of two years of de-escalation, we present the most prominent indicators of the damage and destruction that befell the various transportation sector as a result of direct bombing or as a result of the siege that is still in place, so that we can be consciously aware of the facts of the situation and the extent of the destruction inflicted by the aggression coalition on all infrastructure capabilities. The technical, technical and human infrastructure of this vital, important and pivotal sector that is closely linked to economic development and the national economy in the first place.

The Saudi-American aggression coalition, and those who joined them, launched an aggression against Yemen on the night of March 26, 2015, targeting children, women, and civilians for their means of livelihood, their essential needs for life, and civilian facilities, especially the various transportation sectors.

• The total estimated direct and indirect damages and losses to the air, sea and land transportation sectors amounted to (13 billion, 644 million, 037 thousand and 828) US dollars since the beginning of the aggression in March 2015 until 2024 AD.
Of which ($6 billion, 910 million, 082 thousand and 278) were direct and indirect damages and losses to the air transport sector and its related sectors. Among the most prominent transport facilities that were damaged was Sana’a International Airport, which was subjected to the destruction of its infrastructure, such as buildings, facilities, halls, the main runway for aircraft landing and take-off, and the system. Aviation field electricity, as well as security and electronic devices, equipment, electricity generators, air navigation devices for radars, communication and communication devices, and other technical and technological matters in the field of civil aviation.

The Saudi-led aggression coalition aircraft also completely destroyed the Taiz and Hodeidah international airports, knocking them out of technical and professional operational readiness.

The direct and indirect damages and losses to the maritime sector also amounted to $5 billion 734 million 087 thousand and 500 dollars, most notably the strategic port of Hodeidah for humanitarian services, on which two-thirds of the population of the Republic of Yemen depend, as the Saudi aggression coalition destroyed the most important thing on which the port’s work in general depends, which is Bridge cranes, in addition to heavy and light equipment, electricity generators, a number of docks, etc.

We point out here that the United Nations did not implement what it committed to in the 2018 Stockholm Agreement to restore and rehabilitate the port of Hodeidah, despite repeated meetings and meetings with them and promises without implementation, while the United Nations implemented strategic projects in Yemeni ports that were not destroyed, worth millions of dollars.

The direct and indirect damage and losses to the land transport sector and its escort are estimated at $999 million, 868 thousand and 050. The damage affected buildings, facilities and various means of land transport, as land ports, transportation routes and bridges were subjected to systematic destruction and the closure of a number of main roads such as the Sanaa-Aden road and the Sanaa-Marib road as well. A number of land crossings were completely destroyed, and some land crossings were transformed by the aggression and its mercenaries into military barracks and others, in addition to the destruction of heavy, medium and light means of transportation.

The current situation in the various transportation sectors is as follows:

1_ Sanaa Airport
The US-Saudi aggression coalition is still imposing an air blockade on Sana’a International Airport. There is only one destination to Jordan, with six flights per week, which has a negative impact. Sana’a Airport is vital and provides service to about 30 million Yemenis. Patients’ dependence on Sana’a Airport for travel increases due to its central location across the governorates. Due to the population density, and also the political circumstances that our country is going through.

The continuation of the siege on Sanaa Airport and the existence of a single destination causes dozens of patients to lose their lives, and it has become unacceptable if there is seriousness on the part of the other party for peace.
In this regard, we confirm the operational, technical and professional readiness of Sana’a International Airport to receive all civil flights 24 hours a day in accordance with the requirements and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

2- Hodeidah Port
We reiterate the readiness of the strategic port of Hodeidah and other ports affiliated with the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation to receive all ships and commercial containers and provide marine navigation services to ships and marine shipping lines companies in the required manner, which contributes to the smooth process of the arrival and departure of ships from Hodeidah Port with ease and convenience, around the clock.

3- Land transportationThe Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions stress the necessity of opening roads in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in general and travelers in particular. We commend the community efforts and mediation committees for opening roads with the Presidential and Military Committee, which implements the directives of His Excellency the President of the Supreme Political Council to open roads closed since the beginning of the aggression with the aim of alleviating the suffering.

Citizens to protect their lives and safety from the interruptions, looting and robbery they encounter on rugged roads that are not fit for travel.

• The situation in the Red Sea and the Yemeni position
The Republic of Yemen continues its commitment to maintaining international peace and security and the safety of maritime navigation in the Red and Arab Seas, except for Israeli, American and British ships, until the Zionist-American aggression against Gaza stops.

We affirm that maritime destinations to any port in the world are safe through the Arab and Red Bahrain. Whoever obstructs international navigation in the Red and Arab Bahrain is the American party that takes the security of international navigation hostage, and insists on the passage of Israeli ships and obstructs the ceasefire in Gaza, or prevents everyone from crossing. Intimidation, militarization of the Red Sea, and false propaganda.

We present to you statistics on the number of commercial ships that crossed the Red and Arab Bahrain and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

More than 5 thousand commercial ships crossed the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait during the first quarter of the current year 2024 AD.

– There is no threat from Yemen to ships crossing the Bab al-Mandab Strait, with the exception of Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of the Israeli entity of the Israeli enemy, or American and British ships whose governments were involved in the aggression against Yemen.

We also affirm that Yemen adheres to its humanitarian and religious position alongside Gaza by preventing Israeli ships until the aggression on the Gaza Strip is stopped and humanitarian, food, medicine and fuel aid enters.

Claims
Returning to the requirements of the current situation as a result of the Saudi-American siege on Yemen for 9 years, we stress the importance of rapid treatment by the aggression coalition in the following files:

– Concerning Sanaa Airport
We demand the complete and comprehensive opening of Sana’a International Airport without restrictions or conditions to all destinations and allowing Arab and international civil aviation companies to operate flights to and from Sana’a Airport and provide the required navigational devices that the United Nations has committed to in place of the old devices that were destroyed by the Saudi aggression.

– Regarding the port of Hodeidah:
We demand the rehabilitation of the port of Hodeidah in accordance with what the United Nations committed to in the Stockholm Agreement of 2018 AD, in accordance with the strategic plans and studies prepared by the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation and submitted at that time to the United Nations and approved by it, most notably the bridge cranes, the backbone of the port’s work.

As for the roads:
We demand that all main roads be opened without exception in all governorates of the Republic, and that the other party must prove good faith and put the public interest before personal interest for the sake of the Yemeni people in a way that contributes to alleviating their suffering and protecting their lives and property from plunder and plunder.
