The occasion of the International Civil Aviation Day

 

The Ministry of Transport and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology  (CAMA)  organized a protest stand at Sana’a International Airport on the occasion of the International Civil Aviation Day, which falls on December 7 of each year.

The participants in the pause denounced the shameful silence of the international community and the humanitarian and human rights organizations regarding the killing of children and women and the genocide of the Yemeni people by the countries of the coalition of aggression led by Saudi Arabia.

The participants in the stand raised banners calling for the lifting of the siege on Sana’a Airport and the immediate resumption of civil, commercial and humanitarian flights.

The participants emphasized that the Saudi-led coalition of aggression has been shadowing public opinion over six years of aggression about what is happening in Yemen in terms of killing, brutal crimes and destruction of civilian infrastructure. The authority and the director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled, the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology issued a statement read by the Director of Air Transport.

In it, he emphasized that the Saudi-led coalition of aggression continues to target civil aviation infrastructure and impose an air blockade on Yemeni civilian airports.

The statement emphasized that the world today celebrates the International Day of Civil Aviation every year, while the countries of the coalition of aggression continue to restrict the freedom of Yemeni citizens from traveling without any justification, striking against all laws, treaties and international conventions.

He pointed out that the civil aviation and meteorology sector in the Republic of Yemen is witnessing a complete paralysis due to the criminal acts carried out by the countries of the aggression coalition.

The Ministry of Transport and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology expressed their regret over the systematic and deliberate destruction of the civil aviation sector in the Republic of Yemen before the eyes and ears of the world and a shameful international silence.

The statement indicated that the Ministry of Health statistics indicate the death of more than 80,000 patients due to their inability to travel for treatment abroad, and more than 450,000 patients who urgently need to travel for treatment, 25-30 sick cases die every day and an unknown fate awaits them if the air blockade continues.

Statistics also indicate that more than 65 thousand patients with cancerous tumors are threatened with certain death, and more than 12 thousand patients with kidney failure need urgent kidney transplants abroad.

The statement confirmed the death of one traveler in every ten passengers who had to travel by land through Sana’a, Aden and Sana’a, due to road accidents and great difficulty in traveling between those cities.

The statement called for taking a decisive stance towards targeting Yemeni civilian airports and the continuation of the air blockade imposed on them, especially Sana’a International Airport, with the issuance of an immediate and binding international resolution by the UN Security Council.
