The Red Sea Ports Corporation commemorates the sixth anniversary of the targeting of Hodeidah port by the coalition of aggression

 

Tuesday, 9 Muharram 1443 AH, corresponding to 8/17/2021 AD, the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation commemorated the six-year anniversary of the targeting and destruction of the Hodeidah port by the Saudi-American aggression.

In the event, which was held at the docks of the port of Al-Hodeidah, the governorate’s deputy, Abdul Jabbar Ahmed Muhammad, confirmed that targeting the ports of the Corporation is a violation of international humanitarian law and recognized international conventions, which criminalize targeting vital facilities that are indispensable to people, such as ports and economic facilities, as they are among the civilian objects that are prohibited to be targeted. These types of crimes are war crimes of the first degree, and crimes against humanity do not have a statute of limitations.

He pointed out that targeting the infrastructure of the port of Hodeidah, including bridge cranes, maintenance and storage hangers, in a systematic work to paralyze the movement of the port, stop it from working and bring the Yemeni people to their knees.

He appreciated the efforts of the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and the leadership of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and all its employees and affiliates in overcoming difficulties, facing challenges and continuing to work despite the circumstances imposed by the aggression, siege and escalation.

In the event, which was attended by the Governorate’s Deputy, Muhammad Suleiman Helisi, the CEO of the Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, and the Director of Hodeidah Port Customs, Abdullah Muhammad Habib, a statement issued by the Corporation was read, in which it indicated that the sixth anniversary of the targeting of the US-Saudi aggression comes this year in light of the changes in the port of Hodeidah. The statement stressed the readiness of the port of Hodeidah to receive container cargo ships, while granting all privileges and facilities to importers, as the list of fees, wages, services and facilities of the institution is lower in terms of price among all Yemeni ports, and for clarification, the tariff of fees and wages for container handling in the port of Hodeidah is lower than the port of Aden in wages Cranes at a rate of 24% for a 20-foot container and 31% for a 40-foot container. The port also offers container ships that have cranes for handling containers a special tariff with a 40% reduction in the fees of the cranes, and storage fees for containers are less than what is dealt with in other Yemeni ports.

And he warned against the consequences of the aggression countries’ continuation of closing ports and seaports, which is no longer a secret to one of the practices that fall under the principle of collective punishment that the countries of aggression have been pursuing, and were not satisfied with their devastating economic war, and flooding the country with printing a new currency in light of blatant international bias and complicity.

The statement held the United Nations and its envoys to Yemen and relevant international organizations full legal and moral responsibility towards what civilians are exposed to, and their failure to take urgent legal measures that would stop the siege and end piracy and the detention of food, medicine and oil derivatives ships by the coalition of aggression.

He called on the United Nations to act urgently, and to respect the Statute and the Charter of the United Nations on international peace and security.

He pointed out that the continuation of the operational process in the port despite the conditions of the aggression and the siege and the prevention of importing spare parts for equipment and machinery represents one of the images of victory, steadfastness and steadfastness for the leadership of the institution and its staff.

He stressed that the port of Hodeidah today is better than it was after it was targeted, and has become more ready and keeping pace with the commercial movement and the reception of various ships.

He expressed the hope that the merchants would ship their goods and their container ships to the port of Hodeidah.

He pointed out that the continued prevention of the countries of the coalition of aggression from entering food and medicine as a means of war to bring the Yemeni people to their knees, which God Almighty described in the texts of His verses as “the ones who were given great strength” has become useless with a people that has endured for more than six years.
