Accelerate the construction of the world’s flying taxi infrastructure

Flying taxi manufacturers announced that airports in European countries, including the cities of Rome, Venice, and Bologna in Italy, and in the French Riviera, have collaborated to create a company to build and manage the infrastructure for flying taxis.

The move by companies comes in light of a frantic race to launch flying taxi services not only in Europe but in the whole world. According to the companies, the infrastructure, also known as vertical ports, will be used to deploy battery-powered aircraft, which can take off and land vertically, providing a way New for travelers to beat the traffic and jump between cities.

According to the companies, they will be open to industrial, technical and financial partners for the gradual expansion of the project in Italy, France and elsewhere.

The global company, Urban Blue, will also partner with German flying taxi startup Volocopter, and be backed by investment fund EDF Invest, they said.

The companies said that backbone port operations in Rome, Venice and the French port city of Nice are scheduled to start by 2024, but they did not give financial details about the project.

Marco Troncon, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, a unit of the Atlantia infrastructure group, said Urban Blue was working on a difficult but feasible schedule, to allow Rome to be among the first cities in Europe to revitalize this type of transport.

A study by the European Union’s Aviation Safety Agency has shown that the Italian capital is the third most suitable city for the development of what is known as urban air mobility (UAM) in Europe.

This comes as German airline Lilium plans to develop at least 10 hubs in Florida to house a fleet of jet-powered “flying taxis” that will carry passengers and travel through highway traffic to reduce commutes. to 15 minutes or less.

Ferrovial SE, a Spanish transportation infrastructure company, supports high speed transportation and zero emissions, while providing affordable air transportation, and the company’s team plans to begin construction of the first port in South Florida, with the exact location announced as early as spring 2021.

And the American company “Bell” had revealed and launched the flying taxi “Nexus” for the company “Uber” last year 2020, which was shown at the “CES 2019” exhibition, and the new taxi includes 6 inclined fans supported by a hybrid electric propulsion system, and its capabilities are very advanced Compared to those available on scooters, shuttle buses and personal planes shown at CES.

The designer did not disclose the price of the plane, but Uber confirmed that it was in the process of making taxi fares more affordable for ordinary people.

In light of this great race between the major manufacturers of flying cars, it is clear that air transport, whether between cities or within them, will be the closest in the future to solving all the traffic crises that characterize the major cities and capitals of the world.
