The Minister of Transport chairs the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation

 

The Board of Directors of the Yemeni Red Sea Corporation, headed by Captain / Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, Chairman of the Board of Directors, discussed in its meeting today, Wednesday 3/17/2021 AD in Sana’a, with the Minister of Transport, Major General Zakaria Al-Shami, the strategic and investment plans of the corporation for the year 2021 AD and the mechanism for developing them in accordance with the second phase of the National Vision.

The meeting, which was attended by the deputy of the Ministry of Transport for the Air Transport Sector / Abdullah Al-Ansi, reviewed the problems and difficulties facing the Red Sea Ports Corporation in its field and humanitarian work and the catastrophic humanitarian repercussions due to the continued detention of the American-Saudi aggression coalition of ships of oil derivatives and preventing their entry to the port of Hodeida for nearly a year, which affected Negatively all the elements of the state, foremost of which is the humanitarian and health situation.

The board of directors of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation held the international community and the countries of the aggression coalition responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe that may occur as a result of the stoppage of the activities of its ports that are provided in a professional and professional manner despite the conditions of the siege aggression and the scarcity of capabilities, equipment and devices destroyed by the aggression.

The meeting discussed plans, activities, programs and strategic projects for the rehabilitation and modernization of the ports of the Yemeni Red Sea Corporation, in accordance with what was included in the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state, and it was approved by the Executive Office of the vision, especially the projects that the corporation will self-finance.

At the meeting, the Minister of Transport emphasized the necessity of implementing projects of utmost importance to enhance and develop the work of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, the most prominent of which is the development of the port of Hodeida for the humanitarian services it provides to the Yemeni people.

Minister Al-Shami denounced the detention of oil derivative ships by the US-Saudi aggression coalition, indicating that the aggression aims to kill the Yemeni people, who have withstood the aggression for over six years.

The Minister of Transport said that giving attention to training and qualifying the corporation’s cadres will contribute to developing its work and developing its technical, professional and administrative capabilities.

For his part, Captain / Ishaq indicated that the Foundation’s achievements during the past year 2020 in the continued operation of the corporation’s ports despite their destruction by the aggression’s aviation and despite the scarce capabilities, so that the ports continue to provide their services in the humanitarian aspects and provide basic foodstuffs to the Yemeni people through relief and humanitarian ships.

He stressed that the Corporation showed great interest in the process of training and qualifying its cadres, technically and professionally, in accordance with the terms and requirements of the International Maritime Organization.

Ishaq explained that the training and rehabilitation plan will make a quantum leap in the work of the institution and develop the capacity technically and professionally in accordance with the directions of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, including the activation of training and rehabilitation programs, automation, legislation, regulations, networking, a code of job conduct and job description.
