Iranian airline losses forced to borrow from the government

Iranian airlines are going to borrow from the government to pay the salaries of their workers in light of the losses incurred by the aviation sector in light of the crisis of the Corona virus .

“There are a number of airlines that have so far been unable to pay the salaries of their employees, while a number of others have gone to borrow from the government and from sovereign institutions such as the armed forces,” said Maqsoud Asadi Samani , director of the Association of Airlines in Iran .

He pointed out in statements carried by the agency ” Iran International “, that “the airlines were forced to not make an adjustment in the size of their workforce due to their waiting to receive aid and facilities in light of the Corona crisis, while the companies did not receive any messages stating the provision of support and government assistance.”

The Director of the Association of Aviation Companies in Iran , in previous statements, revealed a noticeable decline in Iran’s request for flights, pointing out that the “Corona virus outbreak has paid to work with only 20% of the Iranian airline’s fleet capacity, which is estimated at 40 aircraft.”

And news reports revealed earlier, that the Iranian fleet of aircraft went through its worst years in 2019 and 2020 for several reasons, the first of which was Tehran’s failure to complete all deals for buying new aircraft as a result of the return of US sanctions, and secondly, the outbreak of the Corona virus and the subsequent cancellation of all flights to the country .
