The pilotage launch “Taiz” was lifted to the marine pontoon slide in the port of Hodeidah for maintenance

Monday 5-15-2023, the pilotage boat “Taiz” was lifted to the marine pontoon slide in the port of Hodeidah to carry out its maintenance work.

The Director General of the General Department of Technical Affairs at the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Fahd Abdul-Karim Al-Jaboubi, said that the 350-horsepower Taiz launch, with a weight of 40 tons, which is used for maritime guidance in the port of Hodeidah, has been lifted.

He stated that the launch, which was raised by the General Department of Technical Affairs and in cooperation with the General Department of Maritime Operations, will be maintained according to the marine launch maintenance program for the current year 2023 AD, in order to reinforce the Corporation’s plan to maintain operational equipment and ensure its safety.

 

Al-Jaboubi indicated that the maintenance work to be carried out for the “Taiz” boat includes all parts of the hull that is buried below the waterline, sandblasted work for the hull of the boat, measuring the thickness of the hull, removing the damaged from it, and welding new pieces of iron instead of the old and damaged ones, and internal bushing measurements will also be taken. And external and ensure the safety of feathers and rafts.

The Director General of Technical Affairs pointed out that the maintenance work for the launch will be carried out by trained local cadres and through Yemeni technical and engineering teams within the framework of the emergency accompaniment that should be conducted for the maintenance of the launch in light of the conditions of the current stage the country is going through and the inability to take out the launch for maintenance outside the country.
